Give a piece of old furniture and a space an entirely new look simply with a painted vintage dresser.
A few months ago, our neighborhood held it’s annual yard sale day. I was on “the hunt” for just one thing: a dresser to convert into a tv stand. I found one. {You can see that fun makeover HERE!} At the same garage sale, I found another dresser as well. Did I know where it would be used? Nope. But did I scoop it up anyway? Yep.

THE BEFORE
For a little while, this green vintage dresser provided storage on our enclosed porch. {That was a fun makeover. Click HERE to see the drastic change!}
And then it sat in my garage. Until one day it hit me: this could be our entryway table. Quickly running out to the garage, I measured the green beast to realize: it would fit perfectly! Woohoo!
Last week, I found a little time to paint the dresser and pulls and then nestle it into it’s new home. {To see what piece of furniture used to be in our entryway, click HERE.}
THE PROCESS
After a thorough cleaning of the dresser, I applied three coats of Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Raw Silk. It went on so smoothly and evenly and dried quite quickly.
And because this vintage painted dresser will be in a “high traffic area” I applied a coat of Fusion’s Tough Coat Wipe-On Poly and allowed it to cure for 24 hours.
I mentioned earlier that I painted the knobs and pulls as well. They were not in any type of condition to restore and a fresh coat of spray paint was the best solution.
PAINTED VINTAGE DRESSER AFTER
Then it was time to move this painted vintage dresser into our small entryway and put it to use.
The creamy color definitely gives a different look than the black table that used to be here. {click HERE for that look}
We also switched out the grate I had repurposed into a key rack for a simple mirror and key hooks.
I am definitely enjoying the lighter colors and more simplified look with this painted vintage dresser, mirror, and key hooks.
So why a dresser? One word: storage. I love having what we need to get in and out of the house on hand, but I also enjoy not having to look at it all day.
The first entryway makeover was amazing. And it really set the basis for some fun tweaking. Now it’s just “little by little” to create functional beauty that works best for my family in this season of life. Plus, I cannot argue with a dresser who wants to come home with me!

Green is not one of my favorite colors, but Bayberry is gorgeous and something I could use in my mostly blue home. I, too, would use it as an entry table for some extra storage. I have happily adopted some of your ideas, thank you.

I think that Bayberry would be a nice compliment to blues. Blessed that you have added some ideas that work for your home. ♥
