The day is here! Woohoo! I am so excited to finally show off the after pictures of our farmhouse exterior project. Reveal day is here!
This has been an absolute labor of love for my husband and I. In all honesty, {besides our fantastic trip to Israel} this has not been a very fun summer. Every single day that it was not raining {and sometimes we were caught in drizzly weather} one or both of us were outside painting. I spent many days outside and then he would paint into the dusk hours. There have been moments of creativity and moments of frustration. It’s been a lot of hard work since that Memorial Day weekend when we began painting. But the long days have paid off in a lot of personal satisfaction…and a few honked horns with a “The house looks great!” shouted from a car window.
Without further delay, let’s jump into the fun part: pictures!
To fully appreciate the after, we need to start with a few before pictures. These first few photos are from our very first visit to our farmhouse and then a few months later when we moved in.
We had done quite a bit of yard work of taming the jungle and removing a few dead trees over the course of two years. These next few photos were taken this past spring before anything began growing yet.
So much potential, right?
Really quick before the after pictures, I want to explain our farmhouse. The original part of our home was built in 1836. There is an addition to the right (with the stones) and a (recessed) addition to the left of the original house. The addition on the left is our family room and it sits back from the main part of the house.
Are you ready? Yes? Here we go!
And you just knew that I had to throw a garage picture in here, right? This little building really gave me a tough time. But, I conquered it!
{The green lattice work below will be painted gray…soon!}
I truly believe in the spirit of transparency. And I do not want you to think that we are some kind of special people who can paint an entire house in less than two months. Our goal was to purchase 10 gallons of {gray} paint and see how far that got us. We were able to make over the front, left side, and two of the three sides of the addition; along with the entire garage. To be honest, we still have the right side and the back of our farmhouse to paint. We have some {gray} paint left and after we take a few weeks off, I hope to work on the side this fall. The back will have to wait until 2018. We see this as a total victory though, as we have conquered the more difficult sides of our home. Optimism is in the forefront of our mind when it comes to tackling the back next year and we foresee flying through it quite quickly.
Thank you so much for cheering us on during this long summer full of humid days!
