A New Year and a new room. It kind of has a ring to it, right? We moved into our home less than two months ago and we’ve been working a little at a time on various projects. But what I need is a full room makeover to help me feel like I’ve accomplished at least one project. And it needs to be done on a budget…say, $100. That’s right, a full bathroom makeover that won’t cost more than $100. And you guessed it: I am participating in the $100 Room Challenge!
This challenge comes with a low price tag and some guidelines. You can read the entire post by Erin at Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry for the full scoop. But if you are just looking for a brief summary, here it is: the makeover can utilize items you already have on hand and any new purchases must not total over $100. {You can meet some other wonderful bloggers who have also taken up this challenge at the bottom of this post.}

Last year, I also participated in the $100 Room Challenge and did a full makeover on our farmhouse’s mud room. It was definitely a big project to take on with a small budget, but completely worth it. {Click HERE for the reveal.}
And this year: a new house and a new room! Let’s take a quick peek at all the before pictures and some of my plans. {Stay tuned every week for an update!}
Our home was built in 1915 and I absolutely adore the charm and character in our bathroom. The first thing will be a fresh coat of paint. The blue-ish green in here isn’t a bad color, but I think the room needs a cool light color. Will it be one color? A different color on top? Bottom? Honestly, I don’t know. I will try both and make a decision once I can see all the options on the wall.
The window also needs a little something. The bottom is a textured glass for privacy, but the top is not. I’m not sure how well it’s doing on the privacy part…sorry neighbors if we’ve been flashing you. I am thinking about adding a roman shade to add some warmth and privacy.
This bathroom is the only full bath in our home. That means that all 5 of us use it for showers. And then there is everyday use. Let’s just say that it is a very popular room.
Storage is the main hurdle for this full bathroom makeover. Towels, for one. And all the other things. This little dresser has solved some of that issue and has been the perfect solution for the space behind the door.
But, the towel and towel rack situation needs to be figured out. I absolutely love for a room to be functional and pretty and I am hoping to find that solution for our full bathroom makeover.
Oh and the light fixture…I am definitely going to do something with that. the $100 budget will determine whether I use what I have or I can purchase a new one. {You definitely know that I am considering an update like I did with our dining room chandelier.}
There is “dead space” on the wall above the toilet and so I am hoping to utilize it for storage…functional and pretty is my goal.
And the sink. It goes with the style of our home {and bathroom} and it has taken us some time to get used to the separate spigots for hot and cold water. But, it does leak a little {thus the towel on the floor} and has some unsightly rust. I am hoping to find a solution to correct this issue and keep this pedestal sink.
And here is the shower. I won’t be doing anything within the shower. It’s a green tile and no one {but the 5 or us} see it, so it will stay…for now. But, the shower curtain needs a little length added to it. The shower curtain rod is so high that the curtain looks like capri pants! This shower curtain is a standard length, so I am going to have to get creative in figuring out a solution for one with a proper length.
And these floors. Friend, when we were looking at our house last summer, these floors sealed the deal. I even took a photo on the spot to remind me of the character in this home as we worked through the selling and buying of a house.
And there you have it: paint, storage, shower curtain, light fixture, window shade, pretty, functional, and no more leaking. All under $100.
I’m up for the challenge!
