This past week, I did a few little changes in our home and I thought it would be fun to just share them all in one hodge-podge of a post. So, here ya go: fun things, rugs, and wood wax. Absolutely pretty random, but that’s kinda how I roll anyway…

FUN ADDITIONS
I added a couple fun things in our homeschool nook and kitchen. Do you see those lights? We took them down outside and before they could collect dust in the basement, I decided to hang them in here. A little extra light will help over the winter. Plus, twinkle lights make every room better.

While we’re on this view, do you spot something else “new?”
It’s this old phone that I found on a random road trip alone this past summer. It instantly made my heart go pitter-patter. Obviously, it it doesn’t meet the “functional” part of my functional beauty motto. {And James is questioning the beauty part too.} But it’s a little quirky and for that reason alone, I love it here!
I also finally got a yummy fall candle. Too many full days and I kept walking right past any candle displays. And then yesterday, I was in Home Goods and couldn’t take it any longer. I love a cozy smell to brighten up the mood…and mask the smell of dinner.
NEW RUGS
Let’s take a peek at some rugs. Confession time: I LOVE the rug that I had in our dining room {click HERE}. Really, I did. But after a month, I moved it to my youngest’s bedroom.
Why? First, it really helped me confirm that I wanted a neutral rug in our dining room. However, it wasn’t the right rug for this room. It is literally the softest rug we’ve ever had. But the weave pattern was so big and our chairs kept catching on it. My family was always being cautious pulling chairs out and I really didn’t like them feeling like they had to “be careful” with a rug. And so, my kiddo got his dream rug in his bedroom…
and I added another neutral rug to our dining room {click HERE}. It’s pretty simple with a sweet crochet detail on either end.
I added a rug pad underneath to help keep this rug in place…and to add a slight comfy feel under our feet. And for some reason, both were 8×10, but the pad needed to be trimmed.
Confession time part 2: I originally wanted a neutral rug in our dining room so that I could add a certain rug to our half bath/laundry room. It’s a rug that I’ve been eyeing up for a while now and I finally snagged it. {this one: click HERE!}
Too many patterns right next to each other is just too much for me and so changing to a neutral rug in our dining room allowed me to add a pattern to the bathroom.
Now, normally, I like to put a rug under the front legs of furniture. Ideally, this rug would slide under the vanity’s front legs. But…between the cast iron sink and the fact that this dresser is screwed into the wall, that idea is not happening.
It’s okay…I’m smitten either way!
WOOD FURNITURE WAX
And here is the last of my randomness.
I’m sure you have seen this end table in our living room. I found it at a local rummage barn for less than $20! I cleaned up all the dust and cobwebs and vowed to never paint it. However, it still looked a bit dingy until…I remembered some beeswax I had tucked away.
Using an old t-shirt, I rubbed a thin coat on the entire piece and it looks amazing now!
Well, there ya have it! A round up of some fun things from this past week. Sometimes, just getting little things done from the to do list can bring a bit of joy.

I always wanted to tell you how beautiful your wood floors are! You have done so much in your home in the last year, what could possibly be next?
And I just ordered a furniture cleaner with citrus that I can’t wait to try on my furniture. I don’t know why I never thought of it before because it brings back some wonderful memories.
Thanks for sharing your life & pictures on your blog. I also have you on Instagram. Happy Anniversary to all of you!!

I love the table/cabinet in your living room that you waxed, it is gorgeous! I’m all for painting furniture when the finish is not good, or it’s not real high quality wood anyway, but when it comes to beautiful old wood with gorgeous graining and detail, I try to preserve that as much as possible. I really like the Howard wood products. Also love your antique phone! It fits your style so well. We have a similar one that is larger and wood that belonged to my husband’s grandparents, and it is one of my favorite antiques in my home😊
