Paint can absolutely change the entire look and feel of a room, as you will see in this hallway and staircase makeover.
Week one of the $100 Room Challenge is in the books. It’s never the most exciting week because it usually involves clearing out and painting. But there is no denying that it is a very important first step. And one that often transforms the room the most.
I tend to forget how much of a difference paint can make until I paint a room. The result is always dramatic, even when “dramatic” colors haven’t been used.
Honestly, this house has been such a joy to transform room by room. The makeovers haven’t involved a demo day or any crazy reconfiguration of spaces. For me, I feel like bringing out our home’s natural beauty is all I am here to do. When I step back and think, “That’s how it was supposed to look all along,” I know that I’ve hit the sweet spot of that room.
This hallway and staircase makeover is no different. As I mentioned in my before post from last week {click HERE} I was so over the blah tan on the walls. But I had no idea how amazing this area would look until…
I just can’t even. The light, bright, and fresh feeling in this space is amazing!
BEFORE & AFTER
Let’s do a quick before and after because those are my favorite. Oh and ignore the lack of fresh paint on the stair risers. I haven’t painted those…yet. Just a little hint about what’s coming up!
You might have noticed one new thing in this space. It was added in between the before and now week one photos and is not included in this $100 Room Challenge. It’s a dinner bell! Kinda fun. Kinda weird. Kinda this momma’s solution to yelling upstairs when dinner is ready.
Walls are painted Behr Swiss Coffee in flat and trim/baseboards/door are Behr base white in satin.

I’m with you Leigh. Cleaning and painting make such a difference! We could probably do a $25 room makeover and just clean and paint a room. However, it’s not nearly as fun. Love your dinner bell. So clever. See you next week.

It is amazing what a little fresh paint can do, I am excited to see your design come to life! The coat rack and bench will really be useful for your layout.

I love that dinner bell! What a neat touch. I agree completely how a fresh coat of white paint can transform from blah to bright and cheery. My house would seem grim inside if it weren’t for the light reflecting quality of white paint.

Week two is time to prep for the transformation. It’s probably the hardest week. Your space looks so brighter just with the paint color. Love the dinner bell….beats screaming for sure. Can’t wait to see what week 3 brings to your space.

Paint really does make such a difference! Even if it’s subtle just the freshness of a new coat can make the room feel amazing. Loving the fresh white walls against all the wood
