Take the guess work out of replacing the store-bought package and easily make your own homemade taco seasoning. This 4-ingredient recipe is a delicious replacement for all the extras that are added to packaged products.
In our home, when I’m asked what’s for dinner and I respond with, “tacos,” I am met with cheers. It’s a simple dinner to put together and my kids often help out…or make it for me! And we always skip the store-bought package and use our homemade taco seasoning.
This recipe can be used in any meal that calls for taco seasoning. We always use it in our crockpot chicken tortilla soup.

TIPS FOR MAKING HOMEMADE TACO SEASONING
- This recipe is extremely budget-friendly, but you can keep the cost down even more by purchasing the ingredients in bulk. I get my spices and seasonings at a local farmer’s market.
- When making tacos, the ratio of meat to seasoning is about: 1 pound to 1 1/2 to 2 Tablespoons seasoning.
- This recipe makes a mild taco seasoning. If you prefer a spicier version, consider adding hot pepper flakes to achieve your desired “heat.”
- The combined measurement of this recipe is about 3/4 cup. This lasts us a few months, but you can always double it…or even triple it as it lasts a long time in a sealed container.
- There is no need to stir this recipe. Easily mix it up by placing all of the ingredients in a jar, attach the lid, and shake it up.
TOOLS YOU WILL NEED
