Not every makeover needs to be over the top. Consider this one hour quick antique cabinet makeover as a very doable project in an afternoon. The result is that it completely changes the look and feel of the entire dining room.
This summer, I have committed myself to “5% Projects.” You know, those little ones that you have been wanting to do…or the last little bit of big projects that you’ve been ignoring. Our antique dining room cabinet was the first project that I tackled on my summer to-do list.
ANTIQUE CABINET BEFORE
It didn’t necessarily looking bad before. But, something felt off and to be honest, a little blah. And so, a quick antique cabinet makeover began.
Over time, this cabinet had become full of all kinds of knick-knacks. I knew that it needed a purging and for me to decide which items I really wanted to display.
ANTIQUE CABINET AFTER
After checking out my paint shelf in our basement, I realized this little project would be completely free. Basically, that’s one of my favorite kinds! Using leftover black paint from a previous makeover…our someday library…I painted the inside “Tricorn Black.” {Click HERE for the library wall!}
After dropping off two bags at the thrift store, it feels good to have simplified this antique cabinet.
The little collections of fun decor mixed with practical items really pops now against the black interior of the cabinet.
SIMPLE VINTAGE DINING ROOM
Our dining room has slowly come a long way from the day we moved in and this little change really ties in well with the black chairs and the metal chandelier.

One item checked off my summer 5% project list. This one was so quick and simple that it really got me excited about tackling more little projects around the house.
