It doesn’t take a big budget or a lot of time to create simple and easy Christmas table decor. Using what I had on hand, in just 15-20 minutes, our dining room table is now decorated for the Christmas season.

To be honest, I have been ignoring my dining room this Christmas season. It just kind of happened. But as we prepare to gather around our table and enjoy our Christmas meal, I knew that I needed to add a little seasonal cheer.
I gathered together some natural elements, such as greenery, berries, and pinecones, along with candles and glass ornaments. These were all things that I had on hand as I was determined to not spend any money on this project.
HOW TO CREATE A SIMPLE AND EASY TABLE DECOR
After a little foraging on my parent’s property, I pulled a few left over Christmas items and then raided my candle stash.
SET THE BASE
Use fabric to lay a foundation for your “centerpiece.” If you have a table runner, you can use that. I decided to use three flour sack towels folded in thirds. Any type of cloth can be used by tucking and folding it under itself.
To add a little more dimension, I did lay a crocheted table runner on top of the flour sack towels.
A FOCAL POINT AND GREENERY
In the center of the table, I added a four candle stand that I recently bought at a garage sale.
Using fresh greens and berries can add a simple, yet beautiful and natural element. By scattering various types of greenery, more interest and dimension can be added. Have each piece of greenery lead into one another so it looks like one long piece of greenery.
Berries add a subtle color that draws the eye in.
PINECONES ADD DEPTH
An easy way to add depth with a very budget-friendly item is to use pinecones. I have had mine for years and bring them out each Christmas.
CANDLES ARE ALWAYS APPROPRIATE
When it comes to decorating for Christmas and the winter, white pillar candles are always good. They add height, warmth, and a cozy feel.
AN OBVIOUS CHRISTMAS ELEMENT
Most of these items so far don’t “scream” Christmas, so I wanted to add a distinguishing element to our simple and easy Christmas table decor. By adding gold and burgundy glass ornaments, it gave an unexpected pop of color and whimsy. It also ties in the color scheme throughout the rest of our home this Christmas season. {Click HERE for our home tour.}

Christmas will be here before we know it and I didn’t think it mattered much whether I decorated our dining room table. I will gladly admit that I was wrong and am looking forward to enjoying our Christmas dinner right here.
