Bedrooms are meant to be a haven. A place decorated in our own unique style, so we can unwind and refresh. But there is often one spot amidst the rest of the room that gets ignored. Today, I’m going to tackle that area and create a teen girl cozy bedroom corner!
This post is sponsored with thanks to Sugru. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
CREATING A COZY BEDROOM CORNER
It’s been a while since I’ve shared my daughter’s bedroom. She has settled in and made it her own…except for one spot. And I was determined to create a cozy bedroom corner for her. I gathered together some decorative items that reflect her style and hold special memories.

But the thing is…I didn’t want to put any holes in the wall. We both enjoy changing things up a little and I decided to use Sugru, a moldable glue, to hang the decor. This way, she can switch out the items as she wants to, but also completely change the look without spackling nail holes. The Sugru we used can be removed by using a knife and she can reapply a new packet and create a whole new cozy bedroom corner look!

So much potential, right?

HOW TO USE SUGRU
As I mentioned earlier, Sugru is a moldable glue. It is soft and malleable, like play-dough, when taken out of the packet. It adheres to most surfaces and begins to set in 30 minutes. You can use it to fix, bond, seal, modify, create, or improve things. With the 30 minute time window, it’s possible to reposition and get it exactly how you want. Once molded and set into place, it turns into a flexible silicone rubber in 12-24 hours. Once it is fully set, Sugru remains bonded. And if you change your mind, it can be removed from non-porous surfaces by using a knife.

ARTS AND CRAFTS CABINET
This antique cabinet has so much character and fits in this spot perfectly. My daughter uses it to store her arts and crafts supplies. Over the past year, we have tried to organize the inside so it is aesthetically pleasing. Well, artistic people enjoy creativity more than organization. And that’s okay with me.
In the back of my mind, I knew the best solution would be to attach a piece of fabric inside to hide the inside contents. But here’s the thing: I didn’t want to nail or staple anything into the wood. Tape wouldn’t hold up for very long. And any other glue would either ruin the wood inside or just not work.
Since Sugru would bond the wood and cloth, but still be re-movable in the future, it was a great solution. I easily stuck 6 little sections of it to the inside of each door.
And pressed the cloth onto each and held it in place for a few seconds.
And ta-da! The best of all worlds: she can be messy inside and no one has to know it!
COZY BEDROOM CORNER GALLERY WALL
Above the cabinet is a triangular space of wall. Due to the pitch of her ceiling, we often have to get creative with wall decor. She has a few mementos that she wanted to display and I thought it would be fun to use Sugru to create hooks for those items.
Sugru comes in a variety of colors and since her room has muted tones, with little pops of gold and charcoal, I decided to mix a black and white packet to create a color. First, I used a larger bit of the black and slowly added white to create the charcoal color I was picturing in my head.
Anyone else love to play with moldable things like play-dough? This was definitely a lot of fun!
I wanted to create hooks, so the first step was to adhere a small bit to the wall.
Then, pull it out into a cone shape.
Using my fingers, I created a hook. In all, I put up four of these and left them overnight to set.
Then came the fun part of hanging up the decor.
GALLERY WALL AFTER
This was such a fun project and I thoroughly appreciated the fact that I didn’t have to put any holes in the wall. It was also nice knowing that I could easily change the position of each hook while I was doing the project…unlike a nail hole.
As if this room wasn’t one of my favorite in our house, now it most definitely is. This cozy corner has helped pull the entire room together and has given it a cohesive look…and feel!
