One change that only took an afternoon completely altered the look and feel of our vintage eclectic living room. The simple act of painting a focal wall added an unexpected pop of color and warmth to the entire space.
I had an idea. And it seemed a little crazy. My two boys were hoping I was joking. Turns out, I wasn’t!
LIVING ROOM BEFORE
A year and a half ago,I painted our living room a fresh creamy color. {Behr Swiss Coffee} And I still love that color. But the room felt too formal and neutral. With it being summer break from homeschooling, now was the perfect time to add a pop of color.
Let’s take a peek at the before and then see all the fun new pictures of our vintage eclectic living room.
The most recent change to our living room was painting our stone fireplace. This was the project that got me thinking about adding more color to the walls in here.

LIVING ROOM PINK WALL
Are you ready to see how the entire space looks with a pink focal wall?
To be honest, I liked the living room prior to adding this color. {Behr Retro Pink} But once it was on the walls, I was giddy about how much I loved it!
The living room is still decorated for summer and the pink has added a fun pop to the simple summer decor.

FULL LIVING ROOM VIEW
It’s often hard to capture our living room in photos. It’s long, with another room on the other side. {Pssst…that is going to be our library someday and it has a fun accent wall just on the other side…click HERE to see!}
〈ROADSIDE COFFEE TABLE MAKEOVER〉
The colors are super fun and really make this eclectic living room feel cozy. On my to-do list is to add decor to the wall above our sofa. My ideas are narrowed down to two. {Click HERE for the details about the most comfy sofa ever!}

There are also a few ideas in my head about adding just a tiny bit of wall decor around our tv. But first, I need to see if I can convince James to move the tv out of our living room. To be honest, we use it maybe once a week. I would rather add more seating along that wall instead. {Shhh…don’t tell him my plans!}
Also, check out this super fun cane chair! I found it at a local thrift store and grabbed it immediately. The cane work on it looks new and it is a very comfy chair. Did you read the story about my old cane chair and how someone gave it back to me? If you haven’t, you’ll love it! Click HERE for that quick read!
To be fair, there were mixed reviews from my family about the wall. Let’s just say that two children were *quite disappointed* but somehow managed to continue on with life. Another child said that they liked it. And James, well, he didn’t really care. He has come to expect such things and dinner still appears on the table each night, so he’s happy.
What do YOU think? Would you do something like this? Maybe you will…and if so, send me pics!

SURPRISINGLY, …I REALLY LOVE IT!!!! The pillows on the couch, opposite wall really help balance the color…….but…..what would you think about painting just a very large canvas framed “pic” of just that solid color for over the couch. I think it would be stunning…and you are not committed to the whole wall being done….Leigh can you picture that? If you frame it…a thin simple frame would do.

Funnily enough, my favorite grandma, my favorite aunt, and my mom all had a variation of that color on their living room walls for decades (one still does).
It looks so fresh and new and fun on your walls! Love it.
