We had a piano. And then I gave it away. Yep, that’s kind of my thing. But in my defense: my daughter was rarely playing it and…it was ugly. There I said it. I had an ulterior motive to giving it away before we moved here. And so, we’d been without a piano for 2 months when my daughter admitted that she missed it. I knew she would, but she just had to realize it herself {parenting pat on my back going on right now}.
I began searching Facebook Marketplace for a piano and within a day I found a vintage upright piano that made my heart pitter patter. It was in incredible condition and so we went out to take a peek. My daughter had a chance to play it and she was grinning ear to ear. A pick-up truck and a few strong men later and the piano is now in our living room. And guess what? Piano music has been filling the air ever since.

The inside of this vintage upright piano has a few dates written from the early 1900’s and the origin of the piano is from NYC and the nearby NJ area. That makes my heart happy because that area holds some family history.
To add some decor around the piano, I used these two maps that we found in our home. Friend…these are maps of the original “development” of the community and neighborhood for our street and the surrounding area. My guess is that they are from the early 1900’s as well.
I always secretly hoped for a vintage upright piano and I’m just as giddy as this girl to have one.
A girl, her dog, and her piano. ♥
